Scaleup
is helping them attract a
Senior Full Stack Java Software Engineer
to play a pivotal role in the development of its core investment platform. Working closely with the CTO and founding team, this individual will contribute to
architecting scalable systems, driving technical excellence, provide guidance on technical decision making, developing their core platform and
mentoring junior engineers (in the future).
The role involves working across the full stack, utilising
Java, Spring Boot, modern front-end with vanilla JavaScript, AWS, and MySQL
to build and optimise a platform handling
large-scale data processing and real-time transactions.
As the business grows, particularly over the up coming years. the potential for this role to grow is huge either into Principal as an IC or Technical Team lead/Manager depending on your path.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintain
the company’s core investment platform using Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, and modern frameworks.
- Influence system architecture, transitioning from monolithic to microservices-based solutions.
- Optimise performance and security, ensuring scalable MySQL database management
and adhering to best practices for AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture.
- Collaborate closely with the leadership team, contributing to technical decision-making and long-term platform strategy.
Your natural curiosity will play a vital part of the role as you will be solving business
problems in a fast-paced, agile environment.
You'll bring a
deep understanding of software architecture, a passion for building
high-performance applications, and the ability to navigate
complex codebases
with ease.
Tech Skills - 10+ years
of professional experience as a Java developer.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JDBC.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies
(JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks).
- Extensive experience with MySQL
(query optimisation, indexing).
- Deep knowledge of AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Familiarity with Git version control
and DevOps principles.
- Understanding of design patterns (MVC, CQRS, Event-Driven).
Things to go with tech skills: - Strong problem-solving abilities and technical decision-making skills.
- Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
- A passion for building from the ground up, particularly in a startup environment.
- A mindset for high-performance engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science etc.
- AWS Associate certification or working experience that is equivalent to
- Experience in building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis.
Nice to have Skills & Experience - Experience in mobile app development.
- Flaire for UI/UX.
