Preparing for an interview is always very important no matter what role you’re applying for. Here are 5 things you can do to set yourself up for success in your next interview.
Before your interview, it's important to do your research on the company and the specific role you're applying for. The first place to look is the company's website, you will often find their mission statement and values which tells you a lot about the type of company they are. You can news articles or the media to find out what they’ve been doing recently or projects they've been working on. Always find out who will be present in the interview and check out their LinkedIn profile to not only find out about the people you will be meeting with but when you do meet them feel more at ease knowing a bit about them.
Take a close look at the job description to understand what skills and experience they are looking for. Identify the key requirements by and prepare specific examples that demonstrate, through your experience, how you meet those requirements. Many technical interviews will include coding challenges or technical questions. Practice coding exercises and review common technical questions that relate to the role you're applying for. Consider using websites like HackerRank to practice your coding skills.

It’s great to use this opportunity to ask insightful questions that demonstrate your interest and knowledge about the company and the role. Ask questions that mean something to you so if you’re keen to learn ask about the resources available to you if you were successful. It's important to be yourself as the biggest thing differentiating you from any other candidate, is you. Try to build a rapport with the interviewer and be confident, personable and engaging. Remember to listen carefully to the questions asked, think through your responses, and communicate your answers clearly and concisely. Above all just remember to smile.
